It is hard to believe that it's already time to think about 2023! I don't do resolutions- to me they are pretty low vibes and set you up for failure. Sure we start with the best of intentions- "I am going to work out 3 days a week" "I am going to wake up at 6 am every morning" and "I am going to read a book a month". …well 3 days a week turn into 2 then 1 then oh I don't have time, waking up at 6 am happens for the first week, and then never again….you get my point. If you are a resolution maker who can stick with it- cheers to you but that's just not my jam.

I do however have professional/business goals for 2023 (I won't reveal them here and now) but some exciting things are manifesting at Jewels and Jem's Furniture Redesigns. One thing I do love about a new year is seeing which colours and design styles will be trending so here are some of the interior design trends experts predict will be everywhere next year.

Furniture and Décor Trends

Now more than ever, it's time to prioritize going green at home. Sourcing items that are zero-waste, artisan-produced, or up-cycled, makes interiors more interesting, and being able to tell the story of a piece of furniture is a great conversation to have with your friends and family when entertaining. Try shopping locally instead of at big-box stores, and consider how you can repurpose existing furnishings to feel new. Giving life to something that already exists, repurposing, or buying vintage is all on trend. Mixing pieces from the past and present is a trend we've seen recently that's going to get even bigger in 2023.

Kitchens

As we head into 2023, we're entering a new era of bold kitchen design. White and neutral kitchen cabinets will begin to be phased out and replaced by black, green, and wood. Everyone wanting to cover up that oak- you might want to consider mixing some of that wood with colour and metals. Bold marble with lots of veining and movement will also be a popular way to make a statement in your kitchen redesign.

Colour Trends 2023

The warmer, rich brown-based colours — caramels, tomato reds, terra cottas — are going to be big in 2023. After years of being dominated by bright whites and cool greys, interior design is moving to a more soothing palette that invites warmth and coziness.

Burgundy and deep cabernet reds will be having a moment and these deep, rich tones work well with neutrals and add so much depth to a design. Fusion Mineral Paint colours like Highlander and Cranberry are both major on-trend vibes for 2023.
