Paint. Why do people find it so scary?! Its just coloured pigments mixed with water or oil based medium. Simple right?!?!🤪 Paint doesn’t have to be scary and with Fusion Paint, its soooo easy peezy that you have nothing to worry about- in fact once you start painting, you’ll be looking for your next project before you're even done the first one! Painting furniture is a way to make something uniquely yours and express your creativity-a coat of colour can magically transform pretty much anything! And if you don’t like it, you can just repaint it! hahaha
Although the invention of premixed, paint in a can is readily available, the use of paint dates back thousands of years. Milk paint is one of the oldest forms of paint- versions were used in Ancient Egypt and Rome- I guess that Art History class I took in University did come in useful! LOL
Here are a few of my favourites right now:
1.My favourite paint to work with is Fusion Mineral Paint for multiple reasons; a few being that it is a Canadian, woman owned family business, minimal prep time, low VOC’s, quick dry time etc.
2. My current favourite Fusion colours are Hazelwood and Midnight Blue.
I tend to stay away from white. Nothing in my house is painted white. Not one single wall. I don’t even like to wear anything white…. maybe that’s because we have 3 dogs and white and dogs just don’t go together. White happens to be our best seller. Go figure.
3.My current favourite brush is the staalmeester oval brush #40 brush and the 4” microfiber roller.
4.My favourite stain is mixing to create unique one of a kind colours.
5. Best paint tip- “less is best”
So what’s trending for paint colours for spring 2022?? Well, greys are going to take a back seat – so much for my favourite Hazelwood! And it’s in with the bright, fun colours from the deep rich teals, greens and dreamy blues of Homestead blue, Renfrew Blue and Seaside to vibrant yellows like Prairie Sunset and Little Star. If you are looking for Milk Paint shades great choices are Skinny Jeans (not the fashion trend!), Velvet Palm or Mod Mustard.
For those of us that prefer the warm neutral creams, popular choices like Plaster, Cashmere and Cathedral Taupe (Toasted Coconut or London Fog (always a good choice in beverage so why not in Milk paint) with their warm and inviting features will be taking over. So much for my plan of painting my kitchen this spring in grey tones! Ha
Pink tones are great for creating a custom blend to add a subtle pop of colour to your space or choose from Damask or the new Rose Water shades if custom mixing isn’t your jam. Palm Springs Pink is also a great choice in Milk Paint.
Or for some drama, go for a bold and intense indigo shade like Liberty Blue or Midnight or Milk Paints Night Swim.
We stock the entire Fusion Mineral Paint line and Milk Paint by Fusion and we know a thing or two to help you choose the perfect colour and how to achieve the look you are dreaming about.
If you want to learn more about the Fusion products, join us this Friday, January 28 in our hands on Fusion Workshop or if you have a small project you want to refinish yourself but want some help and access to the entire Fusion product line, book a spot in our BYOP (bring your own piece) workshop Saturday, January 29!!
Hope to you there!
